Health Researcher - Professor - Guide
Welcome! Thank you for checking out my page. I have been coming to the Adirondacks since I was a kid and it remains my favorite place to be. My hope is to share the park and its natural history with others who are here for the first time or looking to expand beyond their favorite trails. I enjoy hiking (obviously), exploring the more obscure waterways, snowshoeing, x-c/alpine skiing, bushwhacking, and learning the flora and fauna within the Blue Line. My decision to become a guide was inspired by Anne LaBastille, Adirondack author, outdoorswoman, ecologist, and photographer, who obtained her license when few women pursued it. Thankfully that is changing dramatically! For more inspiring books, check out my reading list.
In my frontcountry life I am a health policy researcher with LTG Associates, Inc., teach graduate level courses in public health at The George Washington University, and mentor (guide!) Masters in Public Health students. I am a mixed-methodologist with a focus in evaluation who has worked for federal, state, and foundation clients. I aspire to be a accomplice to fights for racial and gender equity, although this is a continuous work in progress and I have much to learn. I’m a member of the American Evaluation Association, American Association of Popular Opinion Research, and the Washington Association of Professional Anthropologists.
